A combination of creamy banana, peanut butter, organic chocolate protein powder it’s just the blend that is needed for an extra boost of protein.
Do you find that you don’t get nearly the amount of protein in a day that you think you should be? Protein smoothies will be your new best friend because they are so easy to make and so fun to drink.
The average person needs 0.8 grams of protein per pound of weight. So if you are 130 pounds you would need 104 grams of protein a day just to maintain a healthy weight.
Many people are under the normal amount. Obviously, if you are exercising regularly this amount should be more as your body needs the fuel.
So whether you work out or not, having protein in your daily diet is crucial. It is most definitely easier to eat carbs and fats but setting yourself up for success with little tricks to get your protein in won’t hurt.
Obviously don’t just drink shakes and smoothies to get your protein in. Our macronutrients should mostly be coming from whole foods but when we are short on time smoothies are definitely a good substitute.
If you are one of those people who can’t drink their protein shakes with just protein powder and water, well first off can we best friends? My husband would always tell me that I am a big baby for not being able to do it. I just prefer my protein in smoothies and mixed with almond milk.
The beautiful thing about this smoothie is that you can most definitely substitute things out, for example, if you don’t want to add the protein then, by all means, leave it out.
If there is any ingredient that you don’t like or can’t have i.e peanut butter, then feel free to leave it out.
Smoothies are super flexible which is why I think so many people love them. If it’s summer where you live, you could even add ice and make it more of a slushie-like texture. A great way to cool off on a hot day if you ask me.
If you need a good organic protein powder this one here by Orgain is great. It has 21 grams of protein, 50 grams of superfoods in every serving, high in fiber and probiotics. Again if you’d prefer not to add protein to this smoothie or you have one you like that is more than okay too:)
